Integumen in deal to monitor Michigan river for COVID-19 and other pathogens

"First US Integumen COVID-19 detection agreement” says the company

Integumen PLC (LON:SKIN) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the WaterRising Institute to supply equipment to detect pathogens including COVID-19 in the Great Lakes region in Michigan.

The WaterRising Institute is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to provide real-time alerts to identify sources of water pollution.

Integumen will act as WaterRising's agent to design, build, install and supervise the Detroit River AI Water Quality project (DRAWQ).

An MOU has been signed for a three-year framework agreement to supply US$500,000 of equipment, consumables and services and manage the real-time monitoring of water quality using its AI-based monitoring systems.

Gerard Brandon, Integumen’s chief executive, said: "WaterRising Institute is an inspiring consortium driving recognition of the importance of clean water and we are delighted to be working alongside them in the DRAWQ Project.

"More than 35 million people rely on the Great Lakes for drinking water, jobs and their way of life and right now there are 90 million cases of recreational waterborne illness per year, clearly demonstrating the need to rejuvenate the river."

Alicia Douglas, President of WaterRising Institute added: "We are excited to be partnering with Integumen, as we are directly aligned on our goals to bring innovation and technology to the infrastructure of our water systems, to protect our people and our planet.

"The DRAWQ project launches this much needed real-time AI technology in Detroit, MI."

WaterRising Institute will then help to spread this and many other real-time water monitoring and warning solutions to other parts of the US and the world"

Integumen added it is to change its name to DeepVerge PLC.
