Applied Graphene Materials PLC (LON:AGM) has incorporated its technology into material used for space exploration.
Through a partnership with pressure vessel maker Infinite Composites Technologies (ICT), the AIM-listed firm said its graphene technology had been used in two resin systems for cryogenic containers that were currently being considered for use by NASA missions including experiments on the International Space Station.

AGM said the addition of its technology had helped the pressure tanks to complete a liquid oxygen loading test at -300 degrees Fahrenheit, while also eliminating “nearly all” microfractures in the container after exposure to extreme cold.
A pressure vessel is a container designed to hold material at high pressures, such as compressed air or natural gas.
“In demanding applications such as this where failure is not an option, it is pleasing that our graphene dispersions are driving the performance of composite materials”, said AGM chief executive Adrian Potts.
“AGM is proud to be working with the Infinite Composites team on this exciting development effort to support the future of space flight and sustainable transportation.”
