This Thursday will be your final chance in 2009 to see biotechnology stocks at one of our well attended One2One investor forums in Mayfair, London. The final biotech line-up of the year couldn’t be much better either, with three very exciting small cap companies, Plant Impact (AIM: PIM), Lipoxen (LSE: LPX) and ImmuPharma (LSE: IMM) confirmed as presenting on the evening. To attend, click here
During 2009, we have hosted four such evenings, and to date the average performance of those companies who presented has been nothing short of superb. Since presenting, Biocompatibles (LSE: BII) and Plant Impact are more than 100% higher, while Asterand (LSE: ATD) and Sinclair Pharma (AIM: SPH) have climbed more than 75%. In fact, only one of the ten companies that spoke at one of our medical/biotech/pharmaceutical evenings in 2009 is currently trading lower than when it presented.
Will we see similar performances from our companies presenting on Thursday? Only time will tell, but all three certainly warrant attention as interesting, dynamic companies with noteworthy potential for growth.
We certainly see no decrease in interest from companies wishing to present at our forums either. Our remaining forums for 2009 are now fully booked, and we also have similarly well attended forums now occurring in Toronto, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Demand is so strong that we are planning to commence investor forums in several other cities in the United Kingdom in 2010.
This week’s investor forum is free to attend, simply Click Here. The forum will be hosted at the Chesterfield Mayfair Hotel, and will commence at 6pm, final entry is 6:30pm. The three companies have approximately 30 minutes to give a short presentation and for Q&A before a further 90 minutes of networking.
A short description on each of the presenting companies is below, and we look forward to seeing you on the 15th...
ImmuPharma’s lead product is Lupuzor - a drugs candidate developed for treating autoimmune disorder Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. In November 2008, NYSE listed Cephalon took an exclusive option on Lupuzor, followed by a licensing deal in February 2009 which included full development and commercial responsibility for Lupuzor. Phase 3 trials are scheduled in Q4 2010, and if commercialised, Lupuzor could generate up to US$500 million in milestone payments to ImmuPharma. ImmuPharma currently has cash reserves of £27 million and a low burn rate, so finds itself in an enviable position compared to many of its peers.
In addition to its five lead drug candidates, ImmuPharma has a proprietary discovery process for generating more novel compounds for developing internally or licensing to others. It currently has two sources of patented new molecules from which it expects to generate one new lead compound a year.
Lipoxen is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of new and improved biologic drugs and vaccines. Lipoxen has three proprietary patented technology platforms from which it has already progressed two products into clinical development. The first, SuliXen, is a long-acting insulin and the second, ErepoXen, is a long-acting erythropoietin (EPO), a hormone that controls red blood cell production.
Lipoxen’s preclinical pipeline includes Factor XIII and vaccines against HIV, influenza and malaria. The company has a low-risk business model and currently has commercial agreements with some of the world's leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies including Baxter, Schering-Plough, Sanofi-Aventis, the Serum Institute of India Ltd, Genentech, Amgen and Genzyme.
Since first presenting with Proactiveinvestors, Plant Impact’s share has climbed as much as 300%, and is currently sitting around 150% higher than January 2009. Peter Blezard, CEO will be updating us on the company’s progress since, including a licensing deal with Arysta Lifescience for BugOil®, the company’s patented plant insecticide based on natural oils that targets sap-feeding pests including whiteflies, aphids and mites.
