Deltex Medical (LON:DEMG) aims to boost its presence in Asia and the Pacific region through a marketing and distribution agreement with Australian firm Uscom.
Uscom, which manufactures and markets a non-invasive Doppler ultrasound cardiac output monitor, has signed a three year non-exclusive agreement that will see it distribute and market Deltex’s CardioQ-ODM blood monitoring products in Asia and Australasia.
At present, Deltex’s sales are more weighted towards the UK, Europe and North America and the tie-up will see Deltex market and distribute Uscom's monitor in the UK immediately and elsewhere later on.
Uscom’s monitor is used primarily in adult and paediatric critical care medicine, with heart failure and sepsis newer applications being investigated.
It is sold as a one-off, whereas the majority of Deltex’s CardioQ-ODM revenues come from sales of disposable probes used in major surgery and sedated critical care patients.
Ewan Phillips, Deltex Medical’s chief executive, said: "Uscom and Deltex Medical have identified opportunities to sell their complementary technologies to their respective existing customer bases.
"This partnership expands the breadth of each company's clinical offering and allows both companies to further differentiate the strengths of Doppler ultrasound haemodynamic monitoring and measurement."
Deltex is the pioneer of oesophageal Doppler monitoring, or ODM for short, which measures blood flow in real time. This enables fluid level optimisation to improve patient recovery after surgery and in intensive care.
