Cassini Resources confirms broad nickel sulphide mineralisation at Yappsu

The depth of the intersection is comparable to mining depths at Independence Group’s Nova-Bollinger in the Fraser Range.

Cassini Resources Ltd (ASX:CZI) has hit a second broad intersection of massive sulphide mineralisation at Yappsu prospect within the West Musgrave joint venture project in Western Australia.

The Yappsu licence area is 6 kilometres northeast of Cassini’s Nebo-Babel deposit, within an identified corridor of nickel and copper sulphide mineralisation.

Yappsu is being pursued as an opportunity that can support the development of Nebo-Babel, funded through Cassini’s earn-in joint venture agreement with OZ Minerals Ltd (ASX:OZL).

Cassini managing director Richard Bevan said the discovery had big implications for the development scenarios of Nebo-Babel, where proximate additional high-grade ore could materially impact project metrics.

He said: “The results from the first two holes at Yappsu are very significant.

“The early success of our exploration program is a result of the significant work of our technical team and has demonstrated that our targeting strategy is becoming very efficient and effective.”

Mineralisation in three units

Assay results from a diamond drill hole at Yappsu have confirmed nickel and copper sulphide mineralisation in three distinct units.

A massive sulphide zone with project-record grades of cobalt and platinum group elements (PGE) was the first, returning 6.45 metres at 1.67% nickel, 1.07% copper, 0.14% cobalt and 0.49 g/t PGE.

The second unit was an upper heavily disseminated zone of 15.25 metres at 0.60% nickel. 0.77% copper, 0.02% cobalt, 0.31 g/t PGE and 0.18 g/t gold.

Gold also identified

Significant gold mineralisation potential had not been previously recognised by Cassini.

A lower broad disseminated zone was the third mineralised unit identified, with 55.6 metres at 0.32% nickel. 0.34% copper, 0.01% cobalt, 0.23 g/t PGE and 0.06 g/t gold.

The combined weighted average of all intercepts is 77.8 metres at 0.49% nickel, 0.49% copper, 0.2% cobalt and 0.29g/t PGE, which is the most significant intercept on a contained metal basis at the prospect to date.

Follow-up drilling is ongoing, with another diamond drill hole targeting a previously untested downhole electromagnetic conductor.

Results are expected in the next 3-4 weeks.

Nebo-Babel’s mineral resource estimate is 283 million tonnes at 0.36% nickel, 0.39% copper and 137ppm cobalt, containing 1.02 million tonnes of nickel metal and 1.105 million tonnes of copper metal.
