No miracle: SodaStream finds way for its instant fizz machines to turn water into sparkling wine

Drinkers in the US, however, will have to wait for SodaStream’s alcoholic option which will only be available in Germany for the holiday season

Sodastream International Limited (NASDAQ:SODA) has found a way to make its instant fizzy-water machines turn water into sparkling wine.

The Nasdaq listed firm’s concentrated booze comes in a bottle that can make 12 glasses of a bubbly Reisling with an alcohol content of 10%.

SodaStream’s German site is selling an alcoholic syrup mixer it calls “Sparking Gold” which, it claims, in an independent taste test conducted in the country last month found that 76% of tasters enjoyed the product as much “as much as or more” than French champagne brands including Moet & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot.

Drinkers in the US, however, will have to wait for SodaStream’s alcoholic option which will only be available in Germany for the holiday season.

The move isn’t SodaStream’s first foray into booze having previously introduced its “Beer Bar”, which allowed users to make their own light beer at home, with those beer capsules likewise limited to European markets.
