Asterand PLC (LSE: ATD), a provider of human tissue and human tissue-based research services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies engaged in drug discovery research, said chief financial officer John Stchur has received the ‘Financial Director of the Year Outside the FTSE 350 Award’ at the annual FDs' Excellence Awards held last week in London.
Held in association with the ICAEW and supported by the CBI and Real Business, the awards recognise the best-performing finance directors from public and privately owned companies in the UK, the group said.
CEO Martyn Coombs commented: "John should take a lot of the credit for stewarding Asterand's financial resources over the last couple of years and creating a strong foundation within the business for the Company's long term future growth."
Stchur joined Asterand in 2002 as controller. He led the company through two rounds of venture funding and listing on the London Stock Exchange by means of a reverse merger with Pharmagene PLC to form Asterand in January 2006.
He was appointed CFO and corporate secretary in 2007. In January 2009, he joined the board as an executive director.
