SIG, the roofing and insulation products distributor, has appointed chief financial officer Simon Kesterton as its next chief executive.

He will take over on 1 May next year. Pim Vervaat, the current chief executive, will move to become non-executive chair on the same date.

SIG has started a search for a new chief financial officer and will make a further announcement in due course.

Andrew Allner, SIG's chair, said: "The board believes that Simon is exceptionally well placed to sustain the delivery of Vision 2030 as CEO."

Vision 2030 is the company's strategic plan to strengthen performance, cash generation and the balance sheet.

Allner said Kesterton had brought commercial insight and financial discipline to the business, and had been integral to developing the plan.

Kesterton said the plan's priorities included delivering at least £100 million of cash generation by the end of 2027.

It also targets £50 million of run rate operating profit improvement by mid-2028, meaning the annualised benefit once measures are fully in place.

Vervaat said Kesterton was already contributing to the plan through his financial leadership, rigorous performance management and transformation experience.

He said he looked forward to working closely with Kesterton to maintain momentum across the group.
