Asian markets slide as tech selling hits South Korea and Hong Kong
London is set to open 55 points lower, according to spread betting firms, as a wave of profit-taking in technology stocks swept across Asian markets despite a positive overnight lead from Wall Street.
South Korea's Kospi fell around 2.5%, reversing much of Wednesday's rebound, with Samsung Electronics down roughly 4% and SK Hynix losing close to 5%.
Japan's Nikkei 225 fell around 1.5%, with SoftBank Group dropping more than 5% and Tokyo Electron falling almost 6%.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost more than 2%, while mainland Chinese markets were also weaker.
Oil added to the bearish mood, with Brent crude climbing above $110 a barrel amid continued Middle East tensions.
