Elementis, the specialty chemicals maker, now expects full-year adjusted operating profit of $133 million to $135 million, slightly above its previous guidance.

The new range is in line with the average analyst forecast of $134.7 million.

Revenue for the nine months to September rose 7% to $479 million, on an organic basis at constant currency, which strips out acquisitions and exchange rate effects.

Personal Care, which supplies ingredients for cosmetics and toiletries, was the standout, with growth accelerating in every region against a weaker prior-year comparison.

The division also benefited from favourable order timing in September.

Coatings mixed

In Coatings, the energy business performed strongly, helped by operational improvements at its St Louis plant in the US and good demand.

Performance in the Americas improved after a weak first half.

Growth in Asia helped offset weaker results in Europe, the Middle East and Africa during the quarter.

Fourth quarter to slow

Elementis warned that fourth-quarter revenue will be lower than the third, in line with its usual seasonal pattern.

This year's third quarter was also boosted by customers placing orders earlier than expected.

Coatings growth is expected to moderate in the final quarter because of a strong prior-year comparison in Asia.

The company said it remained on track for further progress in the second half.

Luc van Ravenstein, chief executive, said the "Elevate Elementis" strategy, launched in 2025, was "progressing well" despite mixed end market conditions.

Elementis will hold an innovation day next week.
