Man Group, the alternative investment manager, grew total assets under management to $270.9 billion in the third quarter, up from $253.6 billion three months earlier.

The $17.3 billion quarterly increase was driven by $10.1 billion of net inflows and $5.9 billion of investment gains in the three months to 30 September.

The figure also marks a rise of around $57 billion, or 26%, on the $213.9 billion Man Group managed a year ago.

Long-only equity was the standout for flows, attracting $5.8 billion of net new money to take assets in the category to $113.2 billion from $104.2 billion.

Long-only credit drew $2.4 billion of net inflows, lifting assets to $40.6 billion.

Liquid alternatives, which include Man's trend-following and systematic hedge fund strategies, grew to $99.7 billion from $92.9 billion.

Private market assets edged slightly lower to $17.4 billion from $17.6 billion at the end of June.

Performance across several flagship strategies was strong in the quarter.

Man Liquid Alpha, a systematic risk premia strategy, returned 11.4% net of fees in the three months to September, taking its nine-month gain to 16.5%.

Man Japan CoreAlpha Equity, a discretionary long-only Japanese equity fund, gained 12.2% in the quarter and 26% in the first nine months of 2026.

AHL Evolution, one of the group's systematic trend-following funds, returned 9.6% in the period.

Over five years, Man Japan CoreAlpha has delivered annualised net returns of 25.1%, while Man Liquid Alpha has returned 12.1%.

Man Group manages money across systematic, discretionary and solutions strategies, spanning public and private markets with a particular focus on alternatives.
