Flat open predicted

The FTSE 100 is expected to open little changed on Wednesday, with hotter-than-expected UK inflation data offsetting a broadly positive session in Asia.

Asian stocks rebounded overnight, lifted by stronger-than-expected earnings from SpaceX and Super Micro Computer, the server maker that has emerged as a major beneficiary of artificial intelligence infrastructure spending.

Japan's Nikkei rose 1% and South Korea's KOSPI jumped 3.7%, led by memory-chip makers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.

Wall Street was mixed, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 1% and the S&P 500 gaining 0.3%.

Oil remained a concern, with Brent crude trading above $110 a barrel after attacks near the Strait of Hormuz threatened Middle East supplies.

The UK inflation reading of 3.5% for September, released this morning, is likely to keep a lid on sentiment in London.
